Overcoming Obesity

It's been too long

I think we can clearly see that my devotion to my health has tappered in the last quarter of the year. I began so strong, so fast and furious. Quiting smoking, exercising nearly everyday, eating healthy... losing inches and weight like there was no tomorrow.

That is what it was like when I wasnt' working. Now I am working, balancing a full time job, a child and my health has not been so easy. I have offically been working for nealy three months.

I am not working out any longer and I am no longer tracking my food. I have gained about 20 pounds and have gone up two sizes. It is so crazy how quickly you fall back into old ways.

The good news is that I am still in the positive. I have still lost 40 pounds for the year and I am coming up on one whole year of not smoking, woo-hoo!

I clearly have not overcome obesity or my addiction to food. I have alot of work to do. I am not giving in, I just need to find the time to dedicate to myself and simply... stop making excuses on why I can not do it!

My desire to be healthy is not gone. I am going to spend some time this weekend focusing on my needs and come up with a plan or small goals that I can accomplish to keep moving in the right direction. I will not continue to gain weight, I will not be the 330 pound woman again! I can do it, I will do it! The fight is not over!

  1. Good for you and yes you can do this. I know just how hard it is and can relate to you 100%. You will win this fight..

  2. Giving up smoking is really such an accomplishment, healthwise. I know you will make progress on the weight front in 2011. We are rooting for you.

  3. You have indeed had a good year. Celebrate that and make 2011 just as good. Welcome back, I've missed you.

  4. Oh, I'm so happy you're back! I sat here and read your entire blog one night after I found it and you are so damn inspirational. Giving up smoking and going on a health kick at the same time is practically unheard of so you should feel so unbelievably proud of yourself!!

You have accomplished so much this year (quitting smoking alone is an achievment of a lifetime!) and you are going to rock it in 2011; I just know it!! All the best!

  5. You're such an inspiration! You can totally do this! I want to start my journey as well in 2011. I'm tired of being tired and feeling gross in my own body. I look to you and this blog for motivation. Thanks for sharing!! Best wishes to you for the new year!!

  6. It's good to hear from you again...I've missed you bunches! A big ol' congrats on quitting the smoking and staying quit....that is just fabulous....HUGE accomplishment!!! Also, good job on losing and keeping off those 40 lbs. this year! Another HUGE accomplishment. I'm glad you know you are worth continuing on....I think 2011 is going to be a great year. :)

  7. I just found your blog. Wow, 40. Good work. Also, I am glad that you stopped smoking. Keep writing. I have found that it has allowed me to stay connected as to what is really going on. It's a way to reflect and be honest (brutally so, at times). People with food issues have feeling issues.

  8. Stephanie, you were my inspiration to start a blog after i found you on sparkpeople back in January. I know it's hard, dang, these habits of ours are well encforced, that's how we got to this size, but honey, let me tell you, you are fantastic.
You are MY inspiration, truly. You know i am a lone parent and i work full time and i know JUST how hard it is to make time to fix healthy dinners and find time to exercise, but i know we can both do it. You have so many good friends that you can call on to take that hike and go cycle with. I know you are tired with your hectic job, i know you want to go for drive thru at the end of a long day, but let's make a pact to get up a half hour earlier and get the dinner prepped in advance to come home at night time and pop it in the oven as easy as that. You recipes that you used to post inspired me so much, i swear i made every one of them.

I know you won't give up girl, i know you are much much stronger than that, but i completely understand that the last few months have been hard, and now the holiday season is here to tempt us. Your attitude is wonderful, i am so pleased to see you are still positive. You are a fantastic woman, just imagine what 2011 can bring

    Much, much love

    Your biggest cheerleader

  9. Good for you, though, for still having a weight loss, and for staying off the smoking for so long! That's something to celebrate, even if it's not as good as you wanted.

It is a fantastic starting point for next year, and you know you can do it! :)

  10. It sounds to ma like you are doing great - I messed up the whole year and refuse to let it do me in - this new year will be both our year to shine : )
