Getting back on the wagon

It's been a week and I still haven't seemed to jump back on the band wagon of living healthy. I have not "officially" worked out, allthough I painted my house which was a workout! I did eat a little better for most of my meals. I ate out 3 times which I guess is better than 3 times in a day. I drank more water but not nearly enough.

I found myself wanting to buy cigaretted twice, I hadn't really wanted to do that in a while. I fear I am entering into self-sabotage. Last night, I found myself at Wal-Mart looking at Diet pills. I know damn well the answer is not in a bottle of pills. It is counting calories, eating healthier and exercise.

I didn't get up and workout this morning as planned, I slept right through my alarm. The day is young, so I commit to myself atleast 30 minutes this evening to workout.

Time management, being prepared, logging calories, drinking water, exercise... I've got to get back on track!!! Get back on track!!! Get back on track!!! A few month's ago, it seemed so easy and now it is feeling like so much work. The good news is that it doesnt seem impossible, now if I can just get back on the wagon.

A little encouragement to help motivate me this week is that I did drop two pounds last week. Let's see what I can do this week...

One meal at a time, One day at a time.

  1. I really know exactly how you feel. Like I said in a previous comment, I started at the same time as you, and I've ping-ponged quite a bit. I'm trying to get back on it now, and it seems so much more challenging. I think it helps to remember ALL of the reasons why you need this and want this. When the temptations come and the hard days come, it helps to always have your motivation fresh in your mind. It also helps to remember that it's a commitment you made to yourself, and treat it that way. Even if you have a day where all the motivation in the world seems to be of no help, commitment just might get it done. Also, I know you are a lot busier now than you were when you started, but I think that blogging helps you (I know it helps me).. so maybe make a commitment to blog a certain number of times per week. Just some ideas.. love you girl :)

  2. Don't give up! It's totally normal to go through a rough patch. I've been doing this for 17 months and there have been at least 3 times I can point to where I've felt like I'm falling off the wagon and going to a walk just feels like too much. I find the best way is to meet ONE of those goals this week. Ie: drink your water every day or aim for working out 3 times. Also I sometimes find when I'm in a rut getting a new workout outfit gets me out doing something because I'm excited about it, try a new activity or just commit to 10 min (because we all know that 10 min in you're going to be doing 30+ min).

    Hope you're feeling better soon!!

  3. You CAN do it. Just start with small steps each week and be proud of yourself for those steps. Yes, you did backslide a bit but we all do that from time to time. That's why this is a lifestyle change and not just a diet. Try really hard to be proud that you are getting back on the program. I've found that giving myself pep talks when i backslide helps. It sounds stupid but I make myself do it for about 5 min a day. When I'm on the treadmill and just want to quit, I start chanting "I know I can, I know I can" over and over. Kinda like the little engine that could. Pick one goal like Carpensm said and do that this week, then add another next week. Make sure you document it each day and take a moment to be proud of yourself. You are doing something amazing even when it feels like just a drop in the bucket!!!

  4. Hang in there. Didn't Babe Ruth once say, "It's hard to beat a person who never gives up."?

Yes, there will be times when our weight edges upwards or we have bouts of less healthy eating. That's just life. Even naturally thin people those periods. They just don't attach any fear, guilt, or frustration to it. They just note the trend and readjust as needed. We who's brains are food-challenged need to not let those phases cause us to simply throw in the towel. It sounds like you are workin'-it-out and are getting in the frame of mind that will enable you to move forward. Keep it up. You're not alone! I don't think there's a person reading who hasn't been-there-done-that. We just need to be more stubborn than our obesity! Don't give up!

  5. I agree - it is one day at a time. We don't put it on all at once (although sometimes it sure feels like we do) and we have to take it one day at a time to get it off.

    Love your blog!

  6. I know exactly what you are going through, been there so many times. I have no advice, I don't know how you get back on track. For me, it just seems to happen when I least expect it, days or weeks or months go by and then suddenly something clicks in my head and off I go again. The thing is to never, ever give up, never stop caring about wanting to make a change. Good luck!
